Joram Okado - Head of Research & Local mentoring programmes

Joram Okado has 15 years experience running his own business, Technomet Engineers Kenya Limited, as well as working in various research and science related roles since graduating from the University of Nairobi with a BSC Degree in Mathematics/Physics. Some of his roles include being a science teacher, a geoscientist at Kensetsu Kaihatsu Engineering where he moved up to head the Engineering and Technical Department and more recently, undertaking a research project with the Ministry of Tourism.

On a personal level, Joram is a highly intelligent individual who is a friendly soul with a compassionate heart that bears a burden for the less privileged in the community around him. He is at his best when he is working to improve working lives and is known for sharing freely any knowledge he has gained in his field and life as business owner. He campaigns passionately for improved conditions and knowledge/information access for Kenyan entrepreneurs and students and business owners.

Joram brings to the Business Link Kenya (BLK) team his expertise in research. He is Head of Research Department working at the grassroots in Kenyan business to ensure that BLK partners with the right people who are key in implementing the vision of nurturing students, entrepreneurs and business owners in all parts of the country. He also heads BLK’s ‘Brighter Futures’ programme which organises free workshops and master classes for university students and local entrepreneurs in the community. His approachable nature and straight-talking style of communication makes him a key personality for driving BLK’s local strategy forward successfully.
