Maggie Nguyo - Legal Expert
Maggie Nguyo is a valuable addition to the Business Link Kenya (BLK) team and brings on board a great wealth of expertise on Business and Legal advice for the BLK members around the world. She is a true testimony of ‘being taken from ashes and made to sit with the princes’. Now a lawyer by profession and expert internet marketer, Maggie is an example of how one can walk her talk.
To start with, she did her Law degree at the University of Warwick - 1995-1997 and Masters in Banking and Finance at the London School of Economics (Oct 2000 - 2001). She then returned to Kenya and did the Bar Examinations in Nairobi in 2002 and was admitted to the Bar in November 2005.
Before admission to the Bar, Maggie went to America for a 6-month break. In her own words, ‘she needed a break after too much study and was looking for her entrepreneurial side’. It was in America that she saw how small business owners would take a small business idea, develop it and turn it into money. With much encouragement, she returned back to Kenya, got a job as an in-house lawyer with the intention or raising money and getting contacts so that she could set up something of her own. She later left the job after two years and went to UK to set up her internet business. Because of her love for travel, she needed a borderless business and thus set up, Doing Business in Kenya which gives information to Kenyans, both at home and abroad, as well as foreigners looking to do business in Kenya.
